Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre
Visit Sparky, the baby Kiwi, Little Blue the Penguin, and other native birds here in the award-winning centre.
Visit North Head in Devonport. An extensive collection of military tunnels which are great for exploration! It takes a 15-20minute walk from the ferry terminal to North Head. The Department of Conservation administers the area and it is open daily. Spectacular views of the harbour and islands of the gulf can be seen. Vehicles are able to drive up and parking is available.
HamiltonChildren's Discovery Trail
Marshall's Animal Farm: Marshall's Animal Farm is a park with all types of animals. You have the chance to feed them and pat them. It's located at McLaren Falls Park.
Visit Shine Falls
Hawke's Bay's most spectacular waterfall, the 58-metre Shine Falls is located on the Boundary Stream. The walk to the waterfall goes through the mixed lowland forest including Kanuka, Kawakawa, Kowhai and Titoki.
Visit one of the 10 wild locations in the Wellington region (including Wellington Zoo and Zealandia). Happening over the school holidays - find a Wild Thing, take a picture doing the thumbs up with the hash tag #wellingtonwildthings and you could win a colouring prize pack worth over $120!

Up the Garden Path serves up delicious breakfasts, lunches, drinks and desserts, served in an outdoor area amongst heritage trees and native birds.
Marlow Park playground Take the kids out for an airing at the Dinosaur Park at St Kilda, and bring their bikes and scooters! Swings, A big cool dinosaur slide, see-saw, climbing frames, fort and a mini road to practice road skills.
Waipapa Point Lighthouse
Waipapa Point is located at the southern end of the Catlins region. This is east of Invercargill on the South Island’s south coast. Lovely, natural scenery. Walk over the rocks in front of the Lighthouse and also check out the Sea Lions! But not too close! Also dress warm as it can get windy and chilly.
